Green Onion Landscaping’s autumn through to spring hanging baskets provide gorgeous colour at eye level when everything else is looking pretty drab. We all need a dash of colour to welcome us at our front doors when the weather’s dull and depressing, it makes us feel better.

When your hanging baskets arrive, they will be in their early stages of growth (see photograph above). The size, health and flowering results of your baskets will depend upon how much care and attention you provide for them. They are a living thing. They need to be watered, fed and cared for. Please follow your care sheets which will be emailed to you when you order.

How and when to order our autumn through to spring hanging baskets 

When: In August every year we begin to take orders for our autumn hanging baskets. It is best to order early to avoid the disappointment of not getting one or two of these beauties. 

How: By e-mailing info@green-onion.co.uk you must include your full name, address, postcode and mobile number and whether you would like delivery or to collect. If these details are not supplied we will not be able to invoice you. There is also an order form at the very bottom of this page.

What happens next: Once we have received your email order, with all of the relevant details, you will receive an invoice with our bank details on it. All invoices must be paid straightaway please or your order will be cancelled. We will ask you to confirm by email when you have made payment. You will receive an email confirming receipt of your payment.

Deliveries & Collections: These begin in the 1st, 2nd & 3rd weeks of October
Collections run from 8am until 5.30pm each weekday and Saturdays
Deliveries will be made every weekday and Saturdays from 12 lunch time until 7.30pm
Please do not call us during this busy period. We are facilitating deliveries and collections for  hundreds of clients’. If we have to stop to answer your call, text or email you will  slow down deliveries and collections for everyone. Thank you.

Green Onion Landscaping’s Autumn through to Spring hanging baskets can be used to brighten up your garden during the dull cold months of the year. Our baskets look great placed on either side of your font doorway to create a colourful, warm welcome to your visitors. Collections

If you live outside of the above areas, you may collect your order from us in Stockton, or you can arrange a courier to collect on your behalf. Please state whether you would like delivery or to collect when you order. You will be sent a text message the day before your order is ready to be collected. This text message will contain the collection address, a time slot and a date for you to collect your order. Your collection slot may be a morning, afternoon or evening during the 1st, 2nd or third weeks of June. Please arrive on time. You will not be the only person collecting that day. Each collection appointment is staggered, this is to avoid having a huge amount of people to deal with all at once. We sell hundreds of hanging baskets each year. We are extremely busy.

We are not a nursery or a garden centre. We are a small, family run, landscaping business that also sell summer hanging baskets, winter hanging baskets, fresh Christmas door wreaths and fire logs. We operate from our home address in Stockton. In the 1st, 2nd and 3rd weeks of October we have hundreds of people calling to collect their hanging basket orders from us. We also have deliveries going out everyday and evening throughout each week and on Saturdays. Please be patient and do not contact us during this busy period. Your order will not be forgotten about. 

All of our Autumn through to Spring hanging baskets are under-planted with spring flowering bulbs i.e. Daffodil ‘Tete-a-Tete’, Muscari, Crocus or Dwarf Irises (the final choice is down to availability from our supplier). We also include trailing plants to spill over the edges of your basket. The evergreen Thymes, Heuchera, and Ivies provide constant colour all through the winter while the violas and pansies and bulbs add a vibrant burst of colour in spring. The spring flowering bulbs will burst into flower as soon as the weather warms up and the sun comes out.

Items you need in preparation for your hanging baskets arrival

• Heavy duty, wrought iron, hanging basket brackets with at least an 18  inch protrusion
• Tomato food – to aid with flowering of your basket’s plants
• Fertiliser of your choice – to power your plants to grow larger 
• A pair of sharp pruners/sharp scissors to dead head and cut back leggy plants

Caring for your Autumn through to Spring hanging baskets

• Even in Autumn, Winter and Spring you will need to water your hanging baskets, particularly if it/they are in a sheltered or windy area or your garden. Water at least once a week depending on the weather. Check them every day to make sure the soil is moist. If it isn’t then you must water your baskets.
• Keep the compost in your baskets moist, but not soaking wet. If your compost gets too wet, the bulbs which are planted beneath the surface will rot and they will not flower in spring
• Don’t forget to include a feed of tomato food/miracle grow at least every 10 to 14 days
• Remember to deadhead your hanging basket flowers. This encourages prolonged flowering
• With the right care and attention, your autumn through to spring hanging baskets will flower into early May
•  If it snows or is a danger of frost, bring your hanging baskets in. If the roots of your plants’ freeze, they will not survive
• Do not allow snow to sit on top of your hanging basket plants. This will kill them
• Make sure your hanging baskets are placed in ample natural day light to keep them alive
